Ill remember Week 2 of MLS 2014 for three horrific mistakes which led to a trio of critical goals that changed their respective games and condemned the guilty parties to that awful, "no-place-to-hide" feeling. Russell Okung Jersey . Interestingly, the culprits were not rookies, but well paid, experienced pros. The first gaffe came in the 24th minute of arguably the biggest early season MLS game in history between Seattle and Toronto. Sounder newcomer Marco Pappa, (with over 100 MLS games, and 39 Guatemalan Caps to his name) attempted a back pass to one of his central defenders. It was woefully short, and instead fell to Jermain Defoe. The new Toronto DP, who had opened the scoring just seven minutes earlier, coolly slotted it home past Stefan Frei. Two-nil, game-winner, 38,000 plus glaring at Pappa...shoulders slumped, head down. Then on Sunday, with the Whitecaps trying to find their rhythm against a frustrating and unified Chivas USA team, another veteran produced an inexplicable brain cramp at the worst possible moment...the last minute before half time. Chivas had been reduced to 10 men after only 13 minutes via a dubious straight red to Agustin Pelletierie. The sending off galvanized Chivas, and further flustered Vancouver who not only failed to create a single first-half chance, they actually conceded more pressure and chances. Then, in that most critical period - the last five minutes of a half - one of the most experienced players on the park coughed up the ball. Nigel Reo-Coker looked to the heavens while Erick Torres busted out his hopelessly awful robot dance...to the "delight" of the handful of friends and family in attendance. It was the Englishmans high-risk, no-reward ball that was snapped up by Mauro Rosales, and before you knew it the team with 10 men was leading. As fate would have it, Reo-Cokers mistake would be cancelled out by another blunder, also from a player you would think might be immune to such a thing. Dani Fragoso, who has plied his trade in Spains lower divisions for 14 seasons, had been on for all of a minute before gifting the ball to Darren Mattocks in his own half. The Jamaican squared it right, and Kekuta Manneh squared the game. When rookies make crushing, result-changing mistakes, its usually the savvy pros who are first to offer consolation. But when its the veterans wearing the goat horns, the same kind of reassuring solace is harder to find in a quiet dressing room. Brandon Mebane Jersey . But the young forward is more than willing to shed a little blood if thats what it takes to make the team this season. "It caught me pretty good, dazed me for that shift, but I didnt want to be off the ice for too long," he said after practice, his lip still bleeding a little despite the plastic stitches holding it together. Hunter Henry Jersey . The International Ice Hockey Federation says Pavlovs avoided a two-year sanction because he acted "without significant negligence in failing to verify the safety of the supplements he was taking. http://www.chargersauthenticshop.com/Chargers-Travis-Benjamin-Draft-Jersey/ . Calgarys Bo Levi Mitchell and Montreals Troy Smith will be the starting quarterbacks in a CFL season-opener for the first time in their careers. Both want to reinforce their No. 1 status. The lightning strike was in the parking lot of Crew Stadium on Saturday night, but its not known if the off-duty lieutenant was struck directly, Columbus Fire Department Battalion Chief Tracy Smith said. The firefighter, identified as Lt. Stu Tudor, had to be resuscitated, and was listed Sunday morning in critical condition in the intensive care unit at the Ohio State Medical Center, Smith said. She said it takes between two and three days to determine the total effects of a possible lightning strike. The storm with heavy rain and lightning bursts rolled through about 15 minutes before the scheduled 8 p.m. kickoff. Fans were told to evacuate the stands and head toward the concourses of the double-decked stadium. Emergency officials got calls reporting the lightnning strike at about 8 p. Dan Feeney Jersey. .m. Crew fan Don Lewis told The Columbus Dispatch that he was taking cover during heavy rain in a portable toilet when he said he felt electricity run through the air and then heard someone in the toilet next to him call 911 to report that someone had been hit by lightning. "All of a sudden it was just a bomb that went off," Lewis told the newspaper. "I knew it was close. The electricity ran through me." He said he saw a man lying on the ground when he got out of the toilet. "He was purple and had his shirt ripped off," Lewis said. Crew owner Anthony Precourt said on Twitter that team was sorry about the postponement, but that fans safety "is of the utmost importance." Precourt also said he was praying for the injured firefighter. The game was rescheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday.
